Newcomers to eye makeup often face issues like makeup smudging and difficulty in removing it. So, how can you apply eye makeup to make it long-lasting and easy to remove?
Check the following tips and tricks:
1. Limit the Use of Eye Skincare Products
When your eye area is excessively oily, it can lead to makeup smudging and uneven coloring. Before applying eye makeup, gently cleanse the skin around your eyes with a cotton swab. Pay special attention to the lower eyelid, as it tends to accumulate excess oil from skincare products.
2. Apply a Small Amount of Eye Primer
Eye primer is a great way to make your eye makeup last longer. However, applying too much or unevenly can worsen your eye makeup. Use your fingertips to evenly spread a small amount of eye primer on your eyelids.
3. Don't Forget the Lower Eyelids
Applying eye makeup to the lower eyelids using the same method can enhance the overall eye makeup effect.
4. Opt for High-Adhesion Eyeshadow
Using eyeshadows with strong adhesion will ensure your eye makeup stays in place for longer.
5. Use Eyeshadow to Set Eyeliner
After applying eyeliner, use eyeshadow to set it in place. Only apply the eyeshadow at the base of your eyelashes. Avoid applying it to the inner membrane of your eye, as it can cause smudging. It's advisable to use waterproof liquid eyeshadow for better results.
6. Enhance Brow Makeup for Longevity
To achieve long-lasting eyebrow makeup, use eyebrow powder. If you prefer an eyebrow pencil, blot excess oil with blotting paper beforehand.
After tracing your eyebrows with the pencil, apply a thin layer of loose powder to make your eyebrow makeup last longer. You can also use transparent eyebrow gel or slightly dry brown mascara to shape your eyebrows.
7. Apply Clear Primer for Mascara
Waterproof mascara is the key to preventing mascara from smudging throughout the day. Applying a clear primer before mascara not only improves the mascara's appearance but also extends its longevity.
After applying waterproof mascara, adding another coat of clear primer will help maintain curled and vibrant lashes for an extended period.
Moreover, having naturally thick and long lashes can enhance your eyes and create a "self-eyeliner" effect, making your eye makeup last longer without relying on external makeup.
If you want longer lashes, you don't have to resort to false lashes or extensions. You can use eyelash serum to improve short lashes. Longer lashes can make your eyes appear bigger and more vibrant, even without extensive eye makeup.
